  29. 2. Known Issues

  32.     A. Removable Drives
  33.     -------------------
  34.     Problems with some removable media drives will cause 
  35.     significant delays when booting your machine.  If you are 
  36.     experiencing long delays and you have a removable media 
  37.     drive, make sure you have a cartridge in the drive when
  38.     you are booting your machine or configuring BootMagic.  
  39.  
  40.     B. Making Copies of the Home Partition
  41.     --------------------------------------
  42.     If you make a copy of the home partition using software such
  43.     as PartitionMagic(R) or Drive Image(R), you will end up with
  44.     two partitions that look like the home partition, and the
  45.     BootMagic configuration program will not run.  If your hard
  46.     drive is in this state, you must boot with the BootMagic 
  47.     Rescue diskette which will take you through the steps needed 
  48.     to fix the problem.

  50.     C. Installing to a Compressed Drive
  51.     -----------------------------------
  52.     We recommend that you do not install BootMagic to a partition
  53.     that already has disk compression installed on it.  If you
  54.     choose to install BootMagic to a partition with disk
  55.     compression, we recommend you uninstall the disk compression
  56.     software from your disk before installing BootMagic.  For
  57.     information on uninstalling your disk compression software,
  58.     see your disk compression documentation.

  60.     If you decide to install BootMagic onto a drive with disk
  61.     compression, you must make sure the portion of the disk that
  62.     is not compressed (the host partition) is large enough for
  63.     BootMagic.  BootMagic must be installed on the uncompressed
  64.     portion of your hard drive.  For information on adjusting free
  65.     space from the compressed volume to the host partition, see
  66.     your disk compression documentation.

  68.     For BootMagic to operate correctly, ensure the disk compression
  69.     software is configured to make the host partition visible and
  70.     assign it a drive letter.  If your host partition is set to
  71.     Hidden, BootMagic may continue to install but you will not be
  72.     able to run the BootMagic Configuration program or uninstall
  73.     BootMagic.  If BootMagic tries to install to a drive letter
  74.     that you are not aware you have, your system may have disk
  75.     compression software installed and it may have hidden the host
  76.     partition.

  78.     D. Uninstalling the DOS Installation and Uninstalling Manually
  79.     --------------------------------------------------------------
  80.     If you installed BootMagic using the DOS installation and wish
  81.     to uninstall, or if you wish to uninstall manually, do the
  82.     following:

  84.     Disable BootMagic in the BootMagic Configuration program by
  85.     unchecking the "BootMagic Enabled" check box and clicking the
  86.     "Save/Exit" button.  Reboot your machine and delete the
  87.     \BTMAGIC.PQ subdirectory.

  89.     E. IDE/SCSI Drive Mixes on Windows NT
  90.     -------------------------------------
  91.     If you are running Windows NT with SCSI and IDE hard disks,
  92.     and you have set your computer to boot from one of the SCSI
  93.     drives, the drives may appear in a different order in the
  94.     BootMagic Configuration program than they appear at boot time.
  95.     This can result in BootMagic failing to appear after installing
  96.     from Windows NT.

  98.     Also, menu items added to the BootMagic menu under Windows NT
  99.     may not be found at boot time.  As a work-around, install
  100.     BootMagic from DOS or Windows 95 and run the BootMagic
  101.     Configuration program from DOS or Windows 95.
